## Keynote Indications
The provings by Rückert showed a prominent sensation of contraction which occurs in 
many parts. Twitchings and disturbance of vision, flickerings, muscae volitantes. Blackness before eyesfora 
short time. Eyeballs feel larger. 
The gastro-abdominal disturbances of Card - m. are obser ved in a less degree in Card -b. Disordered taste, 
dysphagia. Yawning and hiccough. Cutting pains in abdomen, vomiting and diarrhea. 
Burning runs through the proving. Bitter burning in the stomach, as if it were much deranged. Burning in hands 
after sweat. Burning in the arms on exerting them. Tension in tendons. Cracking and aching in joints. Aching, 
cutting pain. Red, and afterwards, yellow, spots on the skin. 
The respiratory sphere is strongly affected and there is pain and contractive sensation in the t rachea with 
hoarseness. Inspired air feels cold. Feeling as if buccal cavity were contracted. Slight swelling of the veins.

## Modalities (Aggravations / Ameliorations)
Worse by motion. Worse touch. Worse walking. Worse stretching the limbs.  
COMMENTS - Two fatal cases of poisoning were recorded, a boy and a girl, from eating the thistle root. In the 
girl's case, there was stertorous breathing, drowsiness, retching without actual vomiting, asphyxia and coma.  
After death the tongue protruded slightly be tween the lips, pupils were greatly dilated, there was evidence of 
general venous congestion. In the boy's case, the veins of the brain were extremely congested.
