Majumdar was sent for at 4 a.m. one morning \nand found the patient in great agony, pain in upper part of region of right kidney, extending downwards and \nforwards to pubes. \nConstant vomiting, bilious, acid tossing about without any relief. After Calc., Lyc., Sep., Sars. and Berb. had \nbeen given in vain, Oci. 3x gave immediate relief and no other remedy was required. \nMajumdar also noted the case of a man, 50, with excruciating pain in his left kidney, for which he had received \nopium under allopathic treatment without relief. Majumdar saw the patient on the sixth d ay of the attack. The \nsuffering was extreme, vomiting of bile, constant nausea, bowels constipated.  \nOci. 3x, one drop every three hours, speedily gave relief, and two days later two small uric acid stones were \npassed. There was no recurrence. \nClarke published two cases. The first concerned a man, 27, who was seized with violent pains of a leaden \ncharacter in the right side of the abdomen, every three or four weeks. The pains commenced in morning, lasted \ntwelve to fifteen hours. For four hours from commencem ent of attack the pain steadily increased, culminating \nin vomiting, first of sour fluid, then slime, then \na fluid like coffee. \nAfter the vomiting there was some relief of pain. Urine contained no sediment. The attacks had lasted seven \nyears. At first they began in the evening. There was a history of epilepsy in the family, and as a child the patient \nhad three fits. \nOci. 200c, one dose, was given and there were no more attacks for about two years. On their recurrence Oci. \nfailed to control them, but Dios, tincture succeeded. \nIn the second case, a woman, 24, had se vere pain in her right flank shooting around to her back. Frequent \nurination, sometimes depositing clots. Terebe. 3c gave some relief, but it was not permanent.
