Sleight proved increasing doses of the tincture and, later on, of 6x, which \nreproduced most of the symptoms of the first proving. \nFornias reported the case of his niece, 5, living in Havana, who had been suffering from a continued fever with \nperiodical midday exacerbations, which later on as sumed an intermittent form. She had been saturated with \nquinine and complained at the time of malaise, lassitude, headache, gastric intolerance, etc.  \nDr. Govantes prescribed an extract of Parth., three do ses a day, each the size of a pea. In four or five days \nshe was free from fever and made a quick recovery. \nDr. Ramirez Tovar reported several cures by Parth. The first was a woman living in the lower part of the city, \nwhere the rain left channels of infection, who had daily attacks of intermittent, more intense each day. \n \n \nOne grain of the alkaloid was divided into six powders, one every hour after the attack. No further attacks. The \npatient was nursing at the time and she noticed a marked increase of milk in  the breasts. Half a grain divided \ninto five doses completed the cure. \nIn the second case, a tailor, 30, moved to a lower part of the city and contracted tertian intermittent, the fourth \nseizure being attended with much pain in the left hypochondrium.  One grain in five doses cured, though the \nconditions were unchanged. (The removal of this left hypochondriac pain is important in connection with \nBurnett's experience with Helia.) \nThe third case was a girl, 6, lymphatic, who lived near the harbor, ill for seventeen days with malaise, loss of \nappetite, sleepiness and fever. She had quinine internally and externally, and was wasting visibly. The alkaloid, \naided by a tonic wine prepared from the extract of the plant, cured \nIn his fourth case, Tovar noted a ma n, 45 of delicate constitution, poorly nourished, straw -yellow face, yellow \nsclerotics, enlarged liver and spleen, spleen painful to pressure. He had a fever in Panama, had taken quinine, \ncomplained of a pain in right side, which commenced 1 p.m. with shi verings, disappeared in two hours and \nreturned at precisely the same hour the next day. \nFive doses of ten centigrams each removed the pain. About six weeks later there was a relapse, the pain this \ntime being located in the stomach. One grain in five doses,  one dose every two hours, removed the pain, but \nit returned the third day. The same treatment then removed it permanently.  \nThe fifth case concerned a young woman, 18, who had periodical facial neuralgia, cured by the same \ntreatment.","Head":"Headaches, extending to nose, pain in frontal eminence.
