H. Brett recounted an experience in the case of his wife in \nwhich the tincture \nwas applied externally to enlarged, inflamed gouty fingers -joints, and in his own case to painful, aching great \ntoes. \nIn each case a few applications removed the trouble. Brett was led to this use by having heard a ru mor that \n\u201cchickweed poultices\u201d were good for gouty joints. \nF. Kopp published a proving of the tincture on himself. Kopp took frequently repeated doses of the tincture \nand also chewed some of the weed. The pains induced were of a rheumatic character and were so severe that \n \n \nthey had to be antidoted with Nux-v. and Bry. \nKopp confirmed Brett\u2019s observations in the value of external applications of Stel. Internally, he gave Stel. 2x.  \nStasis, congestion and sluggishness of all functions. Pain, swelling and soreness of the liver, better by motion \nand accompanied by soreness. Rheumatism, darting pains in almost every part, stiffness of joints, parts sore \nto touch, worse motion. Chronic rheumatism. Shiftingpains (Puls., Kali-s.). Psoriasis. B., 18, who had rheumatic fever which had left him  in a \nhopeless state of chronic \u201cshifting\u201d rheumatism, pains now in ankle, now in knee, now in arm, wrist or fingers.  \nStel. 2x, was taken three times a day, com pletely cured in a month. Bellairs suggested that \u201cshifting -pains\u201d \nmay be a keynote and Kopp confirmed this. \nBrett cured himself with Stel. 1c of a violent attack of sickness with sharp pains in stomach increasing in \nviolence and cul minating in an explosive vomit. The liver was much enlarged, hard to the touch. The pain \nbegan in the region of the g allbladder. Vomiting ceased after the first dose and the liver enlargement quickly \nsubsided. \nCooper gave much relief with a single dose of in the case of a woman, 55, who had psoriasis, dating from \ntwenty-one years back with irritation in the spots, chiefly on flexures of joints with much irritation of \nStellaria media scalp and soreness of eyeballs.","Chest":"Constriction, oppression, heat.
