As if a cloud before left eye, before epileptiform fits. \nCOMMENTS - Clarke recorded two cases of poisoning. The first was the case of a girl, three months old, who \nwas bitten by a tarantula. She appeared at first uneasy, then exhibited dyspnea and complained. Showed \nsigns of suffocation, vomited. She was agitated and convulsed. Music was played, movements of the limbs \nwere set up, resulting in a profuse sweat, followed by sleep and complete recovery. \nClarke also noted the case of Francis Mustek a peasant, who was bitten by a tarantula on the left hand about \nthe middle of July as he was gathering corn. He went home with his companions but on the way fell as if struck \nby a  stroke. Dyspnea fol lowed and his face, hands and feet became dark. Knowing the remedy, his \ncompanions fetched musicians. \nWhen the patient heard their playing he began to revive, to sigh, to move first his feet, then his hands and then \nthe whole body. At last getting on his feet he took to dancing violently with sighing so labored that the \nbystanders were almost frightened. \nAt times he rolled himself on the ground and struck it vehemently with his feet. Two hours after the music \nbegan the blackness of his face and hands went off, he perspired freely and regained perfect health.  \nEvery succeeding year at the same season the pain and attending symptoms returned, but less violently and \nthey could always be averted by music. But if the imminent paroxysm was not averted in time, he was found \nby his friends struck down as at first and was restored in the same way. \nHysterical hyperesthesia. The least excite ment irritates, followed by languid sadness. Great excitability of \nnerve endings. Finger tips are extremely se nsitive. Sore and bruised feeling all over, worse moving about. \nSpinal irritation, slightest touch along spine causes spasmodic pain in chest and heart regions. Better by rubbing head against pillow. Keynote better by rubbing. \u201cEnds of nerves become \nso irritated. That some kind of friction is necessary in order to obtain relief.\u201d \nChorea (Ign., Staph.), most marked on right side. Characteristic unceasing movements, twitching, jerking, and \n \n \ndancing. Restlessness, particularly in the lower limbs, with desire to cry. Must keep moving about though all \nsymptoms are worse walking. \nFarrington noted that \u201cWhen there are no observers there is no hysteria, when attention is directed to her she \nbegins to twitch,\u201d and \u201ccunning attempts to feign paroxysms of wild dancing.\" \nMental symptoms in connection with sexual disorders. Sighing, yawning, laugh ing and  crying. Joking and \nprofound melancholy. Insanity. Better by music. Music at first excites then it subsequently relieves.  \nDark red or purplish coloration and swelling of skin and tissue. Septic boils that turn really blue and painful. \nSpider bites in general (Hyper., Led.). Periodicity, deep action returning annually on the date of the bite.  \nDiphtheria tonsillitis, threatening suffoca tion. Apparent imminent choking. Cystitis. Septic and intermittent \nfevers. Constrictive headache with pain in uterus. \nP. C. Majumdar reported the case of a woman, 18, who had oppression of the chest, with a suffocating \nsensation. She had continuous jerking and movement of her hands. Foam at mouth. Complete insensi bility. \nProfuse and delaying menses. Very sleepy. Hysterical ep ilepsy was diagnosed. Ign. 30c did nothing. Tarent., \n200c, brought her out of the fit and restored her completely in a few minutes.  \nC. M. Boger cured a case of irritative cough with Tarent. 30c. Mr. B.. 41, was sore all over, throat felt dry. \nCoughed when lying down at night and in morning after rising. Dry with tearing pain in chest. Excited by \npressure of phlegm in chest. Felt short of breath for at least an hour after each coughing attack. Only better \nfrom smoking. Bad taste in the evening. Three doses cured. \nIn Med. Ad., a case of hyperesthesia of the fingertips was mentioned. The patient, a woman, 33, could not \ndress herself without gloves. The irritation caused a sensation in the teeth as if set on edge by a strong acid. \nThe pain was not in the fingers. Tarent, gave relief after Asar., Gels, and Sul-ac. had failed. \nFarrington related a case of typhoid in a child cured by Tarent. The child rolled its head and bit its nightgown. \nApis, and Agn. improved.
