## Keynote Indications
Source: Derived from the Southernwood plant ( Artemisia abrotanum ), a perennial shrub in the. Asteraceae family. Traditional  Context:  Historically  used  in  homeopathy  for  conditions  involving  wasting. (marasmus),  alternating  symptoms  (e.g.,  rheumatism  followed  by  diarrhea),  and  suppressed. conditions shifting to other systems (e.g., joint pain resolving but leading to cardiac symptoms). Modern Context : Indicated for syndromes of  progressive muscle wasting ,  post-inflammatory. sequelae, and functional disorders with alternating clinical presentations. It addresses conditions. where  nutritional  assimilation  is  impaired  despite  adequate  intake,  often  linked  to  chronic. inflammatory or autoimmune processes.
Temperature - High fever, rheumatism. Hectic fever with chilliness, very weakening, and marasmus. 
COMMENTS - Characteristic metastasis and marasmus. “Metastasis” is an idea in homeopathy that's not 
limited to cancer. Metastasis means something disappeared and reappeared. Rh eumatic fever followed by 
sore throat is also known as metastasis. If the throat cleared up but was followed by joint problems, that's a 
case of metastasis. 
Keynote metastasis (Plat.), with a mental state alternating with a physical one. Me tastasis in hom eopathy is 
synonymous with “suppression” if there was outside interference. It's perceiving the alternation of states in the 
person. All the rubrics that say “alternation with...” are metastasis rubrics. 
Useful for suppression, can correct the . suppress ion in some cases. Indicated when a disorder has moved 
from one area and then to another. 
Disorders often go to the intestines. Alternation of constipation and diarrhea. Crohn's disease, colitis, and 
irritable bowel syndrome. 
A very powerful children’s rem edy for malnutrition, malassimilation, failure to thrive, marasmus (Aeth.), colitis 
and rheumatism. May have a big appetite and still lose weight. Can be emaciated with poor food assimilation 
(lod., Cina). Especially useful when failure to thrive is accompanied with muscular weakness. 
Loss of muscular strength, of muscle tone. Flaccid. Difficulty holding up head, in older children.  
Metastasis of mumps with a large swol len parotid gland, often metastasizes to the testicles or the breasts 
(Puls., Carb-v.). 
Clarke cured with Abrot. indigestion with vomiting of large quantities of offensive fluid (in a middle -aged 
woman). Weak, sinking feeling in bowels. 
Hard lumps are felt in different parts of abdomen. Bloated and distended. Tuberculosis peritonitis. Blood and 
moisture oozing from navel of newborn. Gnawing hunger and whining. Craving for bread boiled in milk. The appetite is great, ravenous while 
emaciating. Emaciation progresses with good appetite. Marasmus. Loss of ap petite. Food passes 
undigested.
