Carbo Veg is prepared\nfrom the coal of vegetable matter, while Carbo Animalis is prepared\nfrom the animal ashes.  Although th ey are chemically very closely\nrelated, yet in certain symptoms there is a clear distinction between\nthem.\n\nThe ailments related to the symptoms of Carbo Animalis have a\ntendency to change to cancer.  It is particularly useful for the diseases\nof old age.  Typically, the patient is anaemic, his face is sallow, the\nlimbs become weak, and the body defe nces start to decline.  As in\nCarbo Veg, the glands become hard ened, with the tendency towards\nbecoming cancerous.  Like Aesculus, Ca rbo Animalis is useful in the\ntreatment of clotting of  the blood inside the veins, and the formation\nof spider webs on the skin.\n\nThe Carbo Animalis patient is usua lly sad and depressed and likes to\nbe alone.  Mostly, he is  quiet.  At night, he is restless and frightened.\nThe blood flows towards the head.  The mind is confused.  The\neyesight is dim and the eyes feel heavy.  There is pain at the nape of\nthe neck.  Lips and cheeks are bluish.  The nose swells and bluish\nlumps develop on its surface.  Heari ng declines and it is difficult to\nrecognize the direction of  the source of sounds.  There is dry nasal\ncold with loss of sense of smell.   Copper coloured pimples and acne\ndevelop on the face.  The head and the face feel warm.  Warts appear\non the face and on the ha nds of old people.  The patient has scary\ndreams.\n\nThe stomach of a Carbo Animalis patient feels weak and empty .\nAfter taking food, he feels weak and tired.  Heavy lifting or hard\nlabour physically exhausts him.  The hips and wrists hurt.\n\nThe conventional doctors suggest surgical removal of the uterus as a\ntreatment of cancer of the cervix .  This does not necessarily\nsucceed, however early administration of Carbo Animalis will cure the\ncondition.  It is also useful fo r the treatment of generalized\ninflammations of the uterus and asso ciated pains.  The erosion at the\ncervix of uterus is associated with leucorrhoea of burning nature.  In\nCarbo Veg too, there is a similar burning sensation internally.\n\nOutwardly, the patient feels calm a nd cool.  The prompt usage of\nCarbo Animalis for the treatment of the burning type of leucorrhoea\ncan pre-empt the development of cancer.\n\nCarbo Animalis is very useful for the treatment of nausea in\npregnancy which is worse at night.\n\nCarbo Animalis must not be forgotten when a woman feels weakness\nduring lactation and suffers from mental exhaustion.  This is a good\nremedy for cancer of the uterus as well as cervical cancer.\n\nThe special characteristic of Car bo Animalis is the swelling of the\nlymph glands along with a bluish colouration of lips and cheeks.\n\nIn Carbo Animalis, women have more frequent, heavy and more\nprolonged bleeding (menorrhagia) .  The menstruating woman\nbecomes very weak.  As in Sepi a, a saddle-shaped darkish area\ndevelops on the nose extending to th e cheeks.  In the absence of its\nown specific symptoms, Sepia will not  relieve this.  A Sepia lady is\nusually of a slim build, feels aloof amongst the near relatives and loses\naffection especially towards her husba nd and children.  In fact, she\nfeels indifferent towards them.  If such a patient also has a typical\nmark on the nose, Sepia should be ad ministered.  If ineffective, Carbo\nAnimalis must be tried.  In my experience, Carbo Animalis is very\neffective in ailments de veloping after childbirth .  It also cures the\nmark on the nose.  It is useful in  treating the nausea of pregnancy.\nWhile associated with other symptoms of Carbo Animalis, it is very\nbeneficial in treating the indurati on of mammary glands and the pain\nthereof.\n\nIt is also useful in the treatment of deafness .  Often, both ears\nbecome deaf and voices cannot be r ecognised.  The di rection of the\nsound is also difficult to ascertain.  Amongst the remedies for deafness\nis Chinopodium. If the deafness is  due to the degeneration of the\nnerves, or sequestered secretions inside the ear, Chinopodium 30 or\n200 should be used for two to th ree months.  Sometimes, such a\npatient suddenly feels better.  Befo re the recovery of his hearing, he\nfeels frequent gusting of air into the ears.\n\nCarbo Animalis is not the treatment of locked up discharge in the ear\nbut it is the treatment for nerv e deafness affecting both ears.\nChinopodium often affects one ear.\n\nCarbo Animalis is a good medicine for the treatment of acne  and\nswelling of hands and feet due to co ld.  It also prevents against the\ntendency of the formation of warts on hands and face.  Sometimes,\ndue to structural mal-development, the bones start thickening and have\na tendency to transform into cancer (Paget\u2019s disease).  If any abnormal\nchange is noticed like this, Carbo An imalis should be promptly given.\nThe ankles of Carbo Animalis patients are weak and turn in easily and\nrepeatedly.  To prevent this tendency  of spraining of the ankle, Carbo\nAnimalis 30 should be given to strengthen them, but Bellis should not\nbe forgotten in such a condition.\n\nThe hands become numb, the wrists and the calves hurt  along with\ncramps during walking.  The small joints of the body become stiff.\nThe back feels taut and hurts.\n\nIn Carbo Animalis patients, the lungs develop lesions and the chest\nfeels cold.  There is greenish sputum along with cough .  The\npatient\u2019s sweat is malodorous du ring the night.  The symptoms\naggravate in cold air, while heat relieves the symptoms.\n\nAdjuvants:  Helonias, Calcarea Phos\nAntidotes:  Arsenic, Nux Vomica\nPotency: Usually 30.
