The word Sanguine fully\nreflects the nature of the remedy.  The face of a Sanguinaria patient\nbecomes red and hot.  Burning hot and redness are its peculiar\nfeatures.\n\nIn Sanguinaria, the headache begins at the nape  and then becomes\nlocalised in the right temple area or in the right eye.  The pain\nlocalised in the left eye is indicative of Spigelia .  The ailments of\nSanguinaria are due to blood disorder while those of Sp igelia result\nfrom hypersensitivity of the nerves .  Their nature is thus obviously\ndifferent.  In Sanguinaria the painful area throbs, while in Spigelia, the\npain is of lightning nature.  In  Sanguinaria, like Lachesis, sleep\naggravates the symptoms.\n\nIn Sanguinaria, the headache is asso ciated with severe nausea, which\ncauses further aggravation.  On vomiting, the patient feels much\nbetter.  In Sanguinaria, the palms of the hands and the feet feel\nburning hot.  The patient keeps the f eet out of the bed.  In Pulsatilla,\nthese symptoms pertain only to wome n.  However in Sanguinaria, the\nsymptoms affect men and women equa lly.  Sanguinaria is a relatively\nshort acting remedy.  Thus, it is not of much use in chronic diseases,\nexcept those of the chest,  e.g., tuberculosis.  In tuberculosis, it has\nproven to be very effective and long acting.\n\nIn Sanguinaria, the patient feels a lot of discomfort in the trachea\nand the upper respiratory passages , on coughing and even on\ntalking.  The patient feels as if a ball of air is stuck in the throat.  He\nfeels relieved on its expulsion.\n\nSanguinaria is effective in the treatment of tuberculosis and other\nchronic chest diseases  by way of relief of th e symptoms, but it does\nnot offer complete cure.  Sulphur, Silicea and Graphites have the\ncapability to cure tuberculosis, though the treatment is usually begun\nwith the milder type of remedi es, Sanguinaria 30 being one amongst\nthose.  High potency Sanguinaria is not usually required.\n\nSanguinaria is the complete antidote for the allergy to the smell of\nroses.  In Sanguinaria, the headache sometimes recurs every seven\ndays.\n\nOther symptoms of Sanguinaria being pr esent, it can be very useful in\nthe treatment of left-sided pain as well.  Frozen shoulder, pain and\nstiffness of the right side of the neck  and the upper back  respond\nvery well to Sanguinaria.  However,  Sanguinaria is not of much avail\nin the treatment of pain resulting from external injuries.  Rather it is\nthe optimal remedy for deep-seated, internal diseases.\n\nIn Sanguinaria, the face of the patient always st ays red.  The patient\ndevelops headache on improper eating and on eating spicy, oily food.\nThe stomach feels burning .  The discharges are acidic.  The patient\nfeels nauseated.  The vomiting, being strongly acidic, can corrode the\nthroat.  Sanguinaria is significantly  effective in the treatment of\nextremely severe acidity of the stomach, if other symptoms of\nSanguinaria are also present.  The ap petite increases.  However, when\nthe disease progresses further, the stomach fails and vomiting sets in.\nThen though still feeling hungry, the patient does not like to eat.\n\nSanguinaria is also useful in treating the asthma secondary to the\nhyperacidity of the stomach,  besides Nux Vomica.  The stomach\nbloats with gas.  The patient may get sudden severe diarrhoea, like\nCroton, Aloe and Podophylum.  Sangui naria may be of use in the\ntreatment of diarrhoea beginning on the sudden cessation of nasal\ncold.\n\nIn Sanguinaria, the menstrual bleeding and leucorrhoea  are very\noffensive.  Sanguinari a is used in the treatment of menopausal\nsymptoms as well as premenstrual nausea and severe abdominal pain.\n\nDuring coughing, the patient feels a hissing sound in the throat  that\nwakes him up.  The patient feels be tter on sitting up.  This cough is\nrelated to the stomach.  The sympto ms of Sanguinaria become worse\nupon sleeping, resting and after eating fruit.
