Dr. Burnett has done most of the research on this remedy and\nothers have significantly benefited from his experiments.  Dr. Kent\nalso has given a lot of importance to this remedy.  Its basic nature\nmust be well learnt so that its efficacy may be availed not only in the\ntreatment of tuberculosis but also in some other diseases.  It is a\nnosode i.e. the remedy prepared from  the extract of a toxic, putrid\nmatter.  On repeated dilution  and purification, the original\ntoxic\/poisonous substance does not ex ist except just as a memory in\nthe form of a subtle power.  Yet, it can be used to treat the original\ndisease or its like.\n\nThe nosode should not be used in po tency less than 200 or better still,\nit should be used in higher poten cies.  Potency 1000 is better.  Dr.\nKent has claimed that any person treated with T uberculinum 200,\n1000, 10 000, 50 000 and finally CM (two doses of each potency at\nlong intervals) will never contract tuberculosis, even if he lives among\nTB patients.  Tuberculinum or so me other nosode may be needed to\ntreat latent tuberculosis.  This will enhance the action of other\nhomoeopathic remedies. Tuberculinum produces a profound bodily\nreaction so that the previously ineffective homoeopathic remedies are\nrendered effective.  Preliminary treatment with Tuberculinum helps\nthe treatment to be more effective.\n\nTuberculinum is an anti-psoric reme dy.  In general, skin diseases are\ncalled psoric diseases.  Malaria and all other fevers, which after being\ntemporarily suppressed have the tend ency to repeatedly relapse every\nsecond or third day, can be usefully treated with Tuberculinum.  Some\ndoctors use Tuberculinum during the malarial fever also.  They call it\na malarial antidote.\n\nA symptom of Tuberculinum is that like Thuja and Arnica, the patient\nlikes to change places constantly.\n\nOne must remember that the patients of tuberculosis and syphilis may\nbecome insane in the advanced disease.  But there is a difference\nbetween their insanity.  The tube rculosis patients usually become\ninsane because of the constant severe headache and deep-seated\nlesions inside the chest.  In syph ilis, the entire body of the patient is\nstudded with sores and ulcers, which can even dissolve the bones.\nThe bridge of the nose settles down due to the decay of the nasal\nbones.  Syphilis also affects the br ain directly, and thus makes the\npatient completely insane.  The insanity due to tuberculosis is\nassociated with the tendenc y of violence and aggression .\nSometimes, the patient may become altogether mute.  Sometimes\nwhen insane, even women weakened  internally by Tuberculosis may\nshow great strength.  Their mi nd becomes excited and leads to\nviolence.  Nevertheless, they are usually of a calm nature.\nTuberculinum given in high potency  can save them from becoming\ninsane.\n\nAccording to some homoeopathic doctors, Calcarea and Tuberculinum\nare very deeply related and may be used as a substitute for each other.\n\nIn Tuberculinum, the muscles become very weak and flabby.  This\nsign is well pronounced.  In a child suffering from tuberculosis, who\nhas the tendency of prolapse of the rectum at the time of\ndefacation, one should not forget to use Tuberculinum.  It may also\nprove useful in the treatment of prol apse of the uterus or the tendency\nof prolapse of the rectum in men as well as women.\n\nPeriods are frequent and prolonged  and may be associated with\npain.  One should not forget using Tuberculinum in the treatment of\nthis condition along with the other homoeopathic remedies.\n\nA dry persistent cough  that is not necessarily the result of a nasal\ncold is very common in the patient of Tuberculinum.  Pulsatilla may\nalso decrease the severity of this cough.\n\nRingworm (i.e. formation of circle of  minute spots) may affect the\nscalp and cause loss of hair.  This is called Alopecia, in which\nbunches of hair fall in the form of circles.  Both Tuberculinum and\nBacillinum are useful in the treatment of this condition.  According to\nDr. Burnett, the basic cause of alopecia is tuberculosis and he suggests\nthat anybody with this condition must  be treated with Bacillinum or\nTuberculinum.  Picric Acid is also a very effective treatment for\nalopecia and ringworm.\n\nAnother salient feature of Tuberculinum is the jerking of the muscles\nduring sleep.  This, of course, can also be treated with many other\nremedies.\n\nIn Tuberculinum, the patient starts  showing symptoms of the disease\nbefore its acute onset.  Tuberculin um has often been used in the\ntreatment of chronic rather than ac ute diseases. Chronic diseases, if\nuntreated, may be transmitted to the next generation.  Tuberculinum\ncan, however, be effective in the treatment of acute illnesses.\n\nIn most of the poor co untries of Asia and Africa, malaria is very\ncommon.  The face of the patient becomes pale yellow and without\nnormal glow.  Diseases of the lungs;  cough and asthma etc., are very\ncommon.  Tuberculinum can effectively uproot asthma because\ntuberculous diseases ultimately result in asthma.\n\nIn some desert areas where pneumonia, tuberculosis and malaria are\nprevalent, sudden cooling of th e temperature predisposes to\npneumonia that weakens the lungs.  It is no wonder that the lungs\ncontract tuberculosis in these areas easily.  In such malarial regions,\nsuch as the Sindh province of Paki stan, Tuberculinum is not only\nuseful but is an essential part of their treatment.\n\nMalaria fever is usually associated with headache and vomiting.  A\ntuberculosis patient who has prev iously suffered from malaria may\ndevelop a headache that can be treated with Tuberculinum.\n\nBody ache, feverishness and an over all state of despair is also a\nsymptom of Tuberculin um.  A condition called hydrocephalus, in\nwhich the head of a child keeps on growing and is not amenable to\ntreatment with common homoeopathic remedies anymore, may well\nbe treated with Tuberculinum give n in a high potency.  This produces\na positive reaction which other common remedies should have shown,\nbut failed to do so.\n\nMost of the abdominal symptoms of Tuberculinum resemble those of\nSulphur, such as profuse morning diarrhoea and sometimes\nalternation of dysentery, dia rrhoea and severe constipation . They\nare all intestinal problems. If th ese conditions are not treated with\nTuberculinum on time, the patient  may become untreatable.  He\ndevelops ulcers inside the intestines , resulting in constant oozing of\nblood.  This condition can however, be treated with Tuberculinum\ngiven over a long period.\n\nAdjuvants:\n\nCalcarea Carb, China, Bryonia, Sulphur, Thuja,\nSyphilinum may also be found useful after treatment\nwith Tuberculinum\n\nPotency:\n\n30 to 200 or very high potencies as required","modalities":"","symptoms_by_system":[],"schema_version":"1.0","api_provider":"Allahshafi"}
