## Keynote Indications
Source: Derived from the venom or skin secretions of the common toad ( Bufo bufo  or related. species),  prepared  for  homeopathic  use  through  potentization  involving  serial  dilution  and. succussion to eliminate toxicity and enhance therapeutic action. Traditional Context: Historically employed in homeopathy for neurological, psychological, and. dermatological disorders, particularly those involving convulsive tendencies, mental dullness, and. skin eruptions. It is noted for symptoms such as seizures, intellectual impairment, and pustular skin. conditions, often aggravated by warmth, sexual excitement, or menses, and ameliorated by cool air,. rest, or solitude. Modern Context : Indicated for  neurological conditions  (e.g., epilepsy, developmental delay),. psychological  disorders (e.g.,  intellectual  disability,  behavioral  disorders),  dermatological. complaints (e.g.,  acne,  eczema),  and  sexual  dysfunctions (e.g.,  hypersexuality,  premature. ejaculation).  It  suits  patients  with  acute  or  chronic  symptoms  characterized  by  convulsive. tendencies, mental dullness, skin eruptions, and sexual disturbances, typically exacerbated by. warmth, emotional stress, or hormonal changes, and often seen in individuals with a history of. neurological  disorders,  developmental  challenges,  or  chronic  skin  conditions.  The  remedy  is. particularly relevant for those with a sluggish, sensitive constitution, often presenting with physical. symptoms like seizures or pustular eruptions alongside emotional traits like apathy, impulsivity, or. sexual  preoccupation,  commonly  observed  in  children  with  neurodevelopmental  disorders,. adolescents  with  behavioral  issues,  or  adults  with  chronic  neurological  or  dermatological. complaints.
COMMENTS - Bufo provokes the tendency to the practice, or even causes impotence. The Indian women of 
Brazil are aware of this last property and administer the venom to their husbands in food or dri nk when they 
wish to free themselves from their marital attentions. 
L. Guthrie told a story of an Italian peasant, apparently dying of dropsy, whose wife, weary of the interminable 
length of his illness, thought to hasten his end by putting a toad into his wine. The man was completely cured. 
According to Lippe, Bufo is especially indicated in epilepsy when the attacks oc cur during sleep at night. The 
patient may or may not be awakened by the attack, if not, when he does awaken he will have a violent 
headache. 
Epileptic symptoms are worse in warm room, but there is also great sensitiveness to cold air and wind. Epilepsy 
that's worse with a full moon. For epilepsy in children with delayed development (Bar-c.). Keynote masturbation 
in children or with epilepsy. 
Lymphangitis. Swollen glands, buboes, particularly in groin and armpits. May go systemic, pus and 
suppuration. Infection leading to swollen glands and fever (Carban.). “Low state,” decomposition, breakdown 
in tissues with pus and septic states. Difficult to heal. Cancers with deterioration (Kreos.) in the late stages. 
Greasy skin, foul discharges and odors. Carbuncles, boils, large water -filled vesicles (bullae). Marked 
periodicity, quartan fevers. Hemorrhages. Boericke noted a “desire for solitude” in order to masturbate. 
Guernsey commended it in panaritium where the pain runs in streaks, all the way up the arm. Also when the 
fingers have been injured and look black, with pains running in streaks up the arm.  
E. E. Case reported a cure with Bufo cinereus of “nosebleed daily for several weeks with flushed face, heat 
and pain in forehead better by the bleeding, there was also easy, perspiration in general, apt to be offensive, 
especially on the feet.”
Temperature - Coldness and shivering, with moist skin, nervousness and trembling, worse going into open 
air. Fever with apathy or delirium, and cold feet. Burning heat in various parts. Limbs burning hot during fever. Colicky pain after drinking milk, and after smoking. Violent colic with convulsive movements 
of jaws and limbs. Sensation as if cold balls running through bowels. Buboes in groins.  Convulsive 
movements in abdomen after spasms. Spasms end by convulsive movements in abdomen. Epileptic attacks 
originate in abdomen. Desire for sweet drinks. Desire for sugar-water. Longing forbrandy, delights in getting drunk. Aversion 
to food and drink.
