The medicine prepared from the\nlava of this mountain is called Hekla Lava.  I do not know of any other\nkind of lava used for the preparat ion of a homoeopathic medicine.\nThe contents of all the lavae ar e probably identical, however, the\neffects of lava may differ from area to area.  Therefore, the lava of\nother volcanoes should also be experimented upon.\n\nHekla Lava mainly affects the bones, especially the bones of the face\nand the jaw.  However, it has an effect on the other bones of the body\nas well. Hekla Lava can be of useful in the treatment of tooth decay\nassociated with a lot of pain and which refuses to respond to any other\ntreatment.\n\nSometimes, the jaw becomes very swollen and may apparently exhibit\nall general signs of Hekla Lava , yet does not benefit from the\ntreatment with Hekla Lava.  In th at condition, the mo st important and\neffective treatment is Sulphur.  Sulphur is found to be very effective\nagainst certain dangerous conditions th at the doctors have labelled as\nincurable.  For example cancer of the jawbone  that has advanced\nsignificantly and causes severe discomfort, affecting the ears. Once, a\nwoman was in severe pain due to the cancer of the jaw.  One side of\nthe face was extremely swollen causing pressure over the eyes.  She\nused to scream due to the severity of pain.  She remained in one of the\nbest hospitals for a long period, but the doctors found no effective\ntreatment for her disease.  Ultimately, she was discharged from the\nhospital with the pronouncement that  her disease was incurable.  I\ngave her one dose of Sulphur CM, wh ich decreased the severity of the\npain and within two weeks, there was marked decrease in the size of\nthe swelling of the face.  After th is, I treated her with one dose of\nSilicea CM.  With this the process of recovery, which had previously\nslowed down, was restored.  Sometime later, I gave her another dose\nof Sulphur CM.  The disease comple tely disappeared.  Several years\nhave passed since the treatment of this patient and until today, she is\ncompletely healthy.  My reason for mentioning this in relation to\nHekla Lava is that she had apparently all the symptoms of Hekla Lava\nbut did not benefit at all with Hekla Lava.  This shows that Hekla\nLava may be effective against othe r diseases of the bone but is\ndefinitely ineffective against the cancer of the bones.\n\nHekla Lava must be a really good remedy but personally, I do not\nhave experience of its effectiveness.   However, some homoeopaths\nadore it.\n\nThe specific symptom of Hekla Lava is stated to be the pain in the\njawbones.  There is considerable sw elling around the jaws and the\njawbones become thickened and enlarged.\n\nRegarding the treatment of the deep -seated bone diseas es, in addition\nto Sulphur, I have found Calcarea Ca rb to be much more effective\nthan Hekla Lava.  I have used Calc area Carb in the treatment of bone\ncancer that had been hi stologically proved.  Within a few months of\nthe treatment with high potency Calcarea Carb, the disease was\novercome significantly.  Such pa tients should doubtless be treated\ncarefully, over a long period.  On e should not just rely on using\nCalcarea Carb, some other adjuvant treatments will also be required\nkeeping in view the overall symptoms of the patient.  Thus, the focus\nof the treatment would obviously be  Calcarea Carb, however, several\nother medicines may also prove to be very useful.\n\nCalcarea Carb is particularly very  useful in the treatment of bone\ndiseases due to a lack of calcium (osteopenia).  Sulphur is also\neffective.  Calcarea Carb is chr onic of Sulphur.  Generally, Calcarea\nCarb is more effective in the diseases of the bones of the lower legs\nthan Sulphur.  Calcarea Carb is also effective against the  cysts of the\nhands.\n\nIn my practice, I have not been able to use Hekla Lava much, possibly\ndue to the fact that I was not fu lly conversant with its signs and\nsymptoms.  I do not mean to discourage other homoeopaths from\nusing it.  I would advise them to go over the writings of other doctors\nabout Hekla Lava and then use it on their patients in different\npotencies.  It is just possible that  they may successfully use it for the\ntreatment of many more diseases, in spite of my failure to use it much.\n\nSome doctors have found Hekla Lava very useful in the treatment of\nteething problems of children.  I do not have much experience of that\nmyself.  Instead, I have found the following prescription effective,\nwithout any doubt, in teething problems:\n\nKali Phos + Ferrum Phos + Silicea + Calcarea Phos + Calcarea Fluor\n\nAdditionally, the above prescriptio n has been found very effective\nagainst certain kinds of bone cancer and the diseases of the covering\nmembrane of bones (periosteum).\n\nIn the homoeopathic literature, the conditions which can be effectively\ntreated with Hekla Lava are: the thickening of the skull bone behind\nthe ears, the thickening of the outer  surface of the bone, ulcers on the\nnasal bones, neuralgic pains over the face resulting from the extraction\nof the teeth or the caries, and n eck glands which have somewhat\nreceded after initial enlargement.   The symptoms of Hekla Lava\naggravate in humid weather.\n\nAntidotes:  Camphor, China\nPotency: 30 or above.","modalities":"","symptoms_by_system":[],"schema_version":"1.0","api_provider":"Allahshafi"}
