## Keynote Indications
Hering, in 1833, was the first to prove and to suggest the employment of this nosode in 
medicine. Later, it became notorious from the experiments of Pasteur. The pathogenesis of Lyss, is made up 
partly of symptoms observed in rabid animals and human patients, but chiefly of symptoms developed in the 
provings. 
The remedy has been extensively used in practice, not only in cases of hydrophobia, but in many disorders in 
which the keynote symptoms have been present. The effects of bites of non -rabid dogs have been removed 
by this nosode. 
Dysentery with pain and tenesmus on hearing water running from a tap. Copi ous viscid saliva. Thirst with 
inability to swallow. Suffocating feelings. Sighing and sighing respiration. 
Trembling or quivering sensation throughout the whole body. 
Sensitiveness to breath of air, to bright objects, especially the surface of water, to sounds, and , most of all, to 
the sound of running water. Convulsions brought on by dazzling light or sight of running water. Thought 
of light or water is enough to bring on an aggravation or a convulsion. 
Aching in bones. Bluish discoloration of wounds. Complaints fr om abnormal sexual desire. Senses become 
over-acute. Noticeable rapid speech and impatience. Irritable, violent temper. Cannot bear the heat of the sun. 
Symptoms are better from sweating. 
A number of cures of hydrophobia have been reported from forced per spirations, especially from prolonged 
and repeated use of the Turkish bath. This is known as the Buisson treatment from Dr. Buisson who originated 
it.

## Modalities (Aggravations / Ameliorations)
Better gentle rubbing, bending backwards, steam or hot water bathing. Worse glistening 
objects, dazzling or reflected light,  mirrors. Worse from sight or sound of running water,  thinking of 
fluids, pouring water. Worse from heat of sun, wind, drafts. Worse stooping, riding in a carriage, mental 
exertion, bed news.

### Vertigo
- Vertigo as if something was drawing around in a circle.
- Vertigo as if she could not hold her head 
straight.
- Vertigo with inclination to fall to right when stooping.
- Vertigo with dim sight while walking and sitting.
- Vertigo with chill and intolerable snappish headache.
- Vertigo with nausea, cramps in abdomen.
- Violent vertigo 
during morning.

- COMMENTS - Lyss, is a close analog of many of the animal poisons, especially Lach.
- Rabies (Bell., Stram., 
Canth.).
- It has been used as a prophylactic to prevent the development of rabies.
- Also, for the side ef fects of 
rabies shots.
- For the effects of bites from non -rabid dogs, especially headaches.
- Bluish discoloration of wounds (Lach).

- Gagging, panic attacks at the sound or thought of water.

- Profuse salivation.
- Saliva tough, ropy, viscid, frothy in mouth and throat, with con stant spitting (Hydr.).
- Sore 
throat, constant desire to swallow (Lac-c., Mer.).
- Difficulty in swallowing.
- Spasm of esophagus from swallowing 
liquids, gagging when swallowing water.
- Constant desire to urinate on seeing running water (Canth., Sulph.).
- Urine scanty, cloudy, contains sugar.
- Prolapsed uterus, many cases of years standing have been ctired.
- Leucorrhea, profuse, running down the legs 
(Alum., Syph., Tub.).
- Sensitiveness of vagina, rendering coition painful.
- Complaints resulting from abnormal 
sexual desire (from abstinence, Con.).
- Mental emotion or mortifying news always makes him worse (Gels).

### Head
- Headache from bite of dog, whether rabid or not, worse by noise of running water, bright light.
- Chronic 
headaches from mental emotion or exertion.
- Sharp pain above eyebrows.
- Boring pain in forehead.
- Maddening 
outward pressing pain in forehead, sensation as if head would burst.
- Severe pressing in left side of 
head.

- Sensitive to light.

### Ears
- Ears feel stiff.
- Itching of ear.
- Itching in a small spot in upper part of both ears, better scratching.
- Sharp 
pains passing into in ears.
- Buzzing in right ear.
- Conversation in vicinity of patient may throw him into a most 
violent agitation.
- Hearing water poured out in next room makes him very irritable and nervous.
- Clairaudient.

### Face
- Face pale and yellowish.
- Bluish pimples on face.
- Heat and redness of face.
- Face sweats with sensation 
of heat with flushes.
- Countenance changes its aspect frequently.
- Quivering in face.
- Facial muscles become 
contorted.
- Spasms with froth before mouth.
- Gnawing and crawling sensation in zygoma.
- Lower jaw stiff and 
painful with inclination to yawn.
- Jawbones feel stiff, sore, aching in lower jaw.

### Mouth
- Bitter taste in morning on awaking.
- Sore mouth, feels as if there were lumps in it.
- Feeling of coldness 
in mouth like essence of peppermint.
- Saliva tough, ropy, viscid, frothy.
- Constant spitting.
- Froths at mouth.
- Speech impeded from spasms of throat.
- Feeling of general malaise.
- Nose - Nose stiff.
- Nose feels bruised.
- Itching in nose all day.
- Sneezing from tickling in nasal cavity.

sneezing, as if a coryza would begin and from every little dust.
- Coryza with tickling in roof of mouth.

### Throat
- Sore pain, constant desire to swallow.
- Difficult swallowing, gagging when swallowing water from 
spasms.
- Burning and stinging pain when swallowing water.
- Slight redness of palate and throat with spasm of 
esophagus and difficult sp eech.
- Sensation as if uvula were too long.
- Cool ing sensation in esophagus.
- Voice 
altered in tone tones much suppressed.
- Hoarse, rough, harsh and weak voice.
- Tongue - Tongue large, pale and flabby.
- Tongue coated with foam, with thin layer of yellowish whit e fur, in

### Chest
- Burning, surging through chest.
- Burning, stinging in left side of chest, with palpitations.

breath.

- Lump in right axilla.

### Urinary & Genital
- Burning and itching on corona glandis.
- Strong erections, without sexual excitement or thoughts.
- Complaints from abnormal sexual desire.
- Painful erection of penis and frequent seminal emissions.
- Semen is 
discharged too late or not at all during sex.
- Pain in  testicles after sex.
- At rophy of testicles.
- Scrotum tightly 
drawn up.
- Hydrocele.
- Discharge of prostatic fluid, smelling salty and musty.
- Menses frequent, protracted, dark, and at times fetid.
- Menses with hemorrhoids, pulsations in anus 
and weakness of back.

of bowels, sore vagina.

### Extremities
- All muscles feel bruised in morn ing.

### Neck & Back
- Great weakness in back, as if it would split andfall apart.
- Back extremely sore, as if beaten.

backache with numbness of hands.

- Considerable pain in lower part of back with soreness felt through to pubic region.
- Stiffness 
in joints of back.

### Skin
- Biting, itching in various parts of body, worse by scratching.
- Itching as soon as beginning to get warm 
in bed.
- Malignant ulcersfrom bite of a dog.
- Bluish discoloration of bitten place (Lach.).
- Dark, livid -marks 
where inoculations were made.
- Pustules.
- Cancerous sores.

### Sleep
- Inclination to yawn and stretch, with stiffness of lower jaw.
- Yawns frequently without sleepiness,  
especially when listening to others.
- Ins omnia, sleepless in spite of narcotics.
- Sleeplessness from excitement 
or despair.
- Starting in sleep.
- Dreams of dogs, of high places, of insane asylums, churches.
- On waking, is 
morose and inclined to be angry.
