{"id":18129,"remedy_name":"Lac Defloratum (HMT)","remedy_type":"Remedy","alternative_names":[""],"miasm":"Tubercular Miasm","temperament":"Neutral","aggravation_time":"Neutral\/Anytime","keynote_indications":"Lac Defloratum is said to have be en prepared from skimmed milk.  I\ndo not agree with this statement.  I be lieve that the milk will still have\nsome fat particles in spite of being apparently skimmed.  The milk\ndefinitely becomes dilute after the removal of fat, but, a little bit of fat\nmust remain.  Based on the homoeopa thic view, if the medicine is\nprepared from ordinary milk, it should have the same features as that\nprepared from skimmed milk because of the residual amount of fat in\nit.\n\nLac Defloratum is very us eful in children who are allergic to milk .\nThey cannot digest milk and instead they develop diarrhoea.  Most\noften, one dose of Lac Defloratum CM  may prove effective, so much\nso that they will not get the allergy again.  Sometimes, the allergy may\npartially remain, or it may not re spond to the treatment after some\ntime.\n\nLac Defloratum is of a cold nature, while Lac Caninum is of a hot\nnature.  The patient of Lac Deflorat um is very cool minded.  He feels\ncold even while clad in warm cl othing in hot weather.  Blowing\nlightly on the face will make him feel cold.  This kind of strong\nfeeling for the cold is different from that associated with Arnica,\nLachesis and Psorinum.  The patient feels extremely cold all over.  He\nis sensitive to the even the draft of cold air and will start suffering\nfrom rheumatic symptoms.  He hurts all over the body, but more so\nover the head.  This pain is not the result of any infection but is\nrheumatic in nature.  There is pain along the course of the nerves on\nthe face and the head.  If the patient feels extremely cold, Lac\nDefloratum must be kept in mind for his treatment.\n\nThe symptoms become relieved with  warmth.  However, the patient\nwill never feel warm enough; he st ays cold.  The symptoms become\nrelieved with rest and local pressure.  The skin is very sensitive, as in\nmany other homoeopathic remedies.  The hypersensitivity of the skin\nis due to the irritability of the ne rves, but in Lac De floratum, it is due\nto the sensitivity towards the cold.\n\nLac Defloratum has mostly been overlooked in the treatment of\ndiabetes, even though its singular use can cure the diabetic, if other\nsymptoms of Lac Defloratum are also  present.  A si ngle dose in high\npotency may cure the patient.  I ha ve seen diabetics getting better\nmany times.  Diabetes is not the kind of disease that must need\ncontinuous treatment for every patient.  A suitable homoeopathic\ntreatment can cure the diabetes comp letely, but in some patients the\ntreatment may have to be continued.  Some symptoms of diabetes may\nbe present in a patient of Lac De floratum even if he is not an\nestablished diabetic i.e. the frequent passage of thick urine and intense\nthirst.\n\nHomoeopathic remedies are related to specific groups of diseases.\nOnce the basic symptoms of a disease are taken care of, other diseases\nwith similar group of symptoms may also be cured.\n\nWhen a patient hates milk, or his symptoms become worse on taking\nmilk, or he develops nausea, vomiting, headache, eructation and gas in\nthe stomach etc; a single dose of Lac Defloratum CM can cure all\nthese symptoms.  At times, it may have to be repeated after a while.  If\ntwo such doses, one after the other, do not benefit, it should be\nabandoned.  If it is going to be effective, it is effective immediately, or\nnot at all.  When the first dos e has offered some relief but the\nsymptoms have recurred, a second dose may be tried but no more.\n\nThe symptom complex of Lac Defloratum also includes the\naftereffects of malaria, such as lack of blood (anaemia), swelling\n(oedema), symptoms of diabetes and weakness of the heart etc.\nInstead of trying to remember all the symptoms, one must remember\nthat the nature of this remedy is very  cold.  The skin is very sensitive\nto cold.  Whenever there is hypers ensitivity to cold, and any of the\nsymptoms pertaining to the heart, malaria or diabetes appear, then Lac\nDefloratum will most probably be f ound more useful in the treatment\nof all these diseases as well.\n\nI have no personal experience of using Lac Defloratum for the\ntreatment of heart problems, so I cannot say for sure as to what\npotency would be ideal.  However, while dealing with the heart, the\ntreatment should be started in low potencies.  If the patient starts\ngetting better, this should be repeated and the potency should\ngradually be increased.  The heart responds in a very slow and steady\nway; therefore, only low potencies are safe.\n\nThe Lac Defloratum patient loses his memory and avoids intellectual\nwork.  This medicine is also useful in the treatment of fatty\ndegeneration of the heart and the liver .  This condition is\ncommonly found in alcoholics but  may be found in people who\nconsume too much fat.  Streaks of fat start depositing in the liver,\nwhich gradually increase with age.  The affected part of the liver loses\nits function and cannot produce chemical secretions in the required\namount.  The usefulness of this re medy in the treatment of fatty\ndegeneration shows that it dispels the bad effects of fatty disease.\n\nA Lac Defloratum patient is usually very sad.  He wishes to die and\nlooks for a simple straightforward way to achieve it.  He is not\naggressive.  He is sad, with no sign  of explosion.  He wants an easy\nway to die without much trouble.  Pe rhaps the poet Ghalib was also of\nLac Defloratum disposition.  He said: \u201cI wish somebody would sing to\nme in such a beautiful and enchanting way, with the voice having the\nspeed and radiance of lightning so  that I may die without any\ndiscomfort\u201d.  What a lovely death!  Alas, he did not get such a singer\nto solve his problem.\n\nThe patient of Lac Defloratum feel s dizzy even on raising his arm.\nHis dizziness is like that of Conium.  In Conium, the patient feels\ndizzy on lying down or closing his eyes, while the bed spins around\nhim.  In Lac Defloratum too, the si tuation is somewhat similar, while\nin Lac Caninum, the patient feels dizzy while walking, and he finds\nthe entire world swinging around him.  He finds himself in a\nfantasyland. Similarily a patient of Cannabis has his own imaginary\nworld, in which he feels like he is flying or floating in the air. Its\nprominent sign is that perception of the passage of time is affected.\nSometimes the passage of time seems to flow rapidly, while in the\nstate of grief and sorrow, time stands still for him.  There is a kind of\nstrange situation in Lac Defloratum  time is prolonged with the feeling\nof joy, whereas normally, a good time passes away rapidly.  The mind\nof a Lac Defloratum patient is not focused on something in particular\nbut goes astray.  He trusts nothing.\n\nIn Lac Defloratum there is one particular characteristic that the\nwomen suffer from headache before and after the periods.  The\nheadache occupies the nape of the n eck, the forehead and the temples.\nYellowish offensive leucorrhoeal  discharge, before and after the\nperiods, is also a soli d sign of Lac Defloratum.  Once both these\nsymptoms are present, the treatment becomes very easy.  Lac\nDefloratum is also useful in the treatment of vomiting during\npregnancy.\n\nWhen a female patient with a co ld body who has a tendency towards\nbeing overweight develops diabetes, Lac Defloratum may be a\npossible treatment for her.  If a woman delivers an overweight child,\nwhile on normal food intake, it may very well be that her diabetes may\nbe passed on to the child.  If she is of a cold constitution, and her body\nremains cold then Lac Defloratum can offer a complete cure.\nTherefore, it must be used without any delay as soon as the diagnosis\nis made.  Obese ladies with the f eeling of cold all over and who are\nunable to digest milk will find this medicine very useful.  It will also\ncure the vomiting during pregnancy in any woman who does not have\na natural distaste for milk, but in pre gnancy is unable to digest it.  All\nthe symptoms pertaining to the st omach dysfunctions result from the\ninability to digest milk.  If the indi gestion is due to not being able to\ndigest milk or due to fatty food, the commonly used remedy is\nPulsatilla.  The nature of Pulsatilla is very hot, while that of Lac\nDefloratum is very cold and this is the main distinguishing factor\nbetween the two.\n\nA patient of Lac Defloratum has extreme photophobia.  He feels a\ngritty sensation in the eyes.  The vision is blurred.\n\nA patient of Lac Defloratum grinds his teeth at night. The grinding of\nthe teeth may also be due to an in festation with worm s or due to the\nswelling of the gums.  Similarly, st omach upset and the indigestibility\nof the milk can also result in grinding of the teeth even in the absence\nof worm infestation.  These three po ssibilities must be kept in mind.\nIn the presence of worms, the chil d develops a severe itch over the\nnose, and the margins of the nose as well as the margins of the lips\nbecome yellowish.  The second sympto m is that the patient feels very\nhungry.  Both these symptoms can be best treated with Cina, while\nSabadilla is also very useful.\n\nThe third symptom of Lac Defloratum is nausea, however there is no\nvomiting, except very rarely.  In this respect, it is somewhat similar to\nIpecac but in Ipecac the vomiting is relatively more frequent.\n\nThe constipation in a patient of Lac Defloratum is very severe; even\nmore severe than in Silicea.  Some times straining may lead to rupture\nof the veins but the stools are not passed.  Such patients can develop\npiles or hernia.\n\nIn Lac Defloratum, the patient passes urine freely, and has a headache,\nlike Gelsemium.  Gels emium also is of a cold nature, but the\ndifference between Gelsemium and Lac Defloratum is that in\nGelsemium there is no thirst at all while in Lac Defloratum there is\nsevere thirst.  In Lac Defloratum , the urine is abundant and light\nyellow in colour, but it may also be thick and darkish in colour\nindicating that albumin is being passed.  Lac Defloratum will be found\nvery useful in treating this c ondition if other symptoms of Lac\nDefloratum are also present.\n\nA strange sign of Lac Defloratum is  that when exposed to extreme\ncold, there is loss of control over passing urine.  This is more common\nin women than in men.  There is incontinence.  The small muscles\n(sphincters) become insensitive du e to exposure to the cold and\nbecome temporarily non-functional.  A similar situation occurs in\nCausticum but there, it is due to permanent paralysis.  Gradually\nworsening incontinence of the urin e can also be found in Kali Carb.\nIn Lac Defloratum, the condition is temporary.  As soon as the\nexposure to cold is over, urination comes under voluntary control.\n\nLac Defloratum is also useful in the treatment of backache associated\nwith menstruation.  While menstruating, the patient happens to dip\nher hands in extremely cold water, the periods will cease immediately,\nand some other ailment may ensue.  Therefore, such ladies had better\ntake the precaution of refraining from using very cold water during\ntheir periods.\n\nLac Defloratum is also useful in the treatment of heart disease\nespecially the cardiac asthma in which the heart is weak and there is\na shortness of breath.  On breathi ng, the lungs press on the heart.\nSimilarly, this symptom is found in Spongia in its own form.\n\nIn a patient of Lac Defloratum, onl y the fingers may be cold rather\nthan the whole hand and will not warm up at all.  The one exceptional\nsituation is that its headache gets better only in the cold, even though\nthe patient is already feeling extrem ely cold, like in Phosphorus.  But\nthe Phosphorus patient would want  to protect himself with warm\nclothing except for his head, which he would like to keep cold.\nNothing but only the cold can offer him relief.  Other symptoms of\nPhosphorus are quite different from Lac Defloratum.\n\nPotency: 30 to CM","modalities":"","symptoms_by_system":[],"schema_version":"1.0","api_provider":"Allahshafi"}
