It\nis prepared from a wild  plant called \u2018bichhoo booti\u2019 (poison ivy).  Its\npoison produces severe intractable itching.  The patient contracts high\nfever.  The appetite is lost.  There is nausea and severe headache.  The\nglands become enlarged inside an d out.  Sores develop inside the\nmouth and on the tongue.  In 1798, a French doctor accidentally found\nout that this particular poison cured a serious skin disease of a patient.\nThe doctor subsequently tried this in the treatment of various skin\ndiseases, paralyses and joint pain s and found it very useful.  For\nhomoeopathic use, the leaves of  the plant are gr ound in the humid\nseason.\n\nRhus Tox is indispensable for homoeopathic doctors.  It is used in the\ntreatment of many diseases.\n\nThe most important symptom of Rhus Tox is burning and\ninflammation leading to the formation of large blisters.  In fact, the\nlargest blisters associ ated with skin diseas e are found only in Rhus\nTox.  In Anacardium and Cantharis, blisters are also found but they\nare relatively small.  Rhus Tox benefits the burn\u2019s patients\nimmensely.  It must be given at once and in high potency.  Besides\nthis, Rhus Tox is highly beneficial in the treatment of paralyses .\nRight-sided paralysis (hemiplegia)  gets better with Rhus Tox and\nSulphur used alternately.  Even if the patient does not show the whole\nspectrum of Rhus Tox symptoms, he could still benefit to some extent.\n\nWhen the vision of one eye is being affected  as a result of severe\nphysical strain or continuous mental  overlay and the heart is also\nunder stress, a dose or two of Rhus T ox benefits immediately.  In this\ncondition, either there are dancing shadows before the right eye or the\nright half of the field of vision is lost.\n\nRhus Tox is very beneficial in the treatment of neuralgias  that\nbecome worse with rest and ge t better on movement. The severe\nburning sensation does not let the patient rest. He remains restless and\ndoes not find comfort in any position.  Movement seems to offer\nRhus Tox 596\ncomfort to begin with but the pain soon returns.  Light movement and\nlight exercise are comforting wh ile strenuous exercise can be\ndangerous.\n\nIf the symptoms match completely, Rhus Tox can relieve headache as\nwell as all other body aches .  Whenever Rhus Tox is the\nconstitutional homoeopathic reme dy, the patient will enjoy sound\nsleep in no time, with no anguish or  restlessness any more.  I have\nobserved it so many times.  Some patie nts will even \u2018complain\u2019 that\nthe night was too short since they pr eviously used to toss and turn all\nnight!\n\nAnother symptom of Rhus Tox is mild chronic inflammation of the\nbladder or the kidneys resulting in the frequent passing of urine at\nnight.  The patient cannot sleep much.  He remains restless. Frequency\nof urination is not always due to di abetes.  Similar symptoms are also\nfound in Phosphorus.  The patient wa kes up at night for no apparent\nreason.  Even if the patient looks healthy he does not feel like going to\nsleep.  He may wet himself unknow ingly at night.  Unexplained\nfrequency of urination associated with restlessness will most probably\nbenefit from Rhus Tox.\n\nIf skin diseases are forcefully s uppressed with allopa thic medicines,\nthen the disease process may affect  the lining of the uterus, mucous\nmembranes or the glands.  Sometimes, the condition may become very\nserious.  If the pancreas is afflicted, then the patient can develop\nsevere diabetes.  A single dose of Rhus Tox in high potency may\nimmediately cure the patient.  No  doubt, it will forcefully surface the\nsuppressed eczema on the skin.  Once, in view of some resemblance\nof the symptoms, I treated a diabetic patient with Rhus Tox in high\npotency.  All of a sudden, his entire body became riddled with eczema\nbut his diabetes was cured.  On further questioning, it was found that\nthe patient had suffered from a seriou s kind of eczema in the past that\nhad been suppressed with strong medication and the diabetes had\ncome on later.  In this patient, Rhus Tox cured the diabetes, but the\neczema returned.  Unfortunately, some of these patients do not feel\nhappy to be rid of diabetes but ra ther take the recurrence of the\neczema too seriously.  In fact, if they continue their treatment\npatiently using Rhus Tox, their skin disease would also be cured.   No\ndoubt, the eczema would flare up in the beginning but eventually\ndisappear gradually.\nRhus Tox 597\n\nIn Rhus Tox, the eczema is of the weeping type.  Once an afflicted\nlady came to me.  She suffered from severe weeping eczema.   S h e\nwas even unable to cook food.  Her husband and children were also\ndismayed.  I treated he r with Rhus Tox 1000.  W ith the first dose, the\neczema flared up and then in a few days, the watery discharge started\nbecoming less.  On the second dose,  after a week, the reaction was\nless pronounced.  In three to four  weeks, her hands were looking\ncompletely healthy, devoid of any signs of eczema.  In my experience,\nI have found it surprisingly eff ective and beneficial.  To my\nknowledge, there is no substitute for Rhus Tox.  If the symptoms are\nof Rhus Tox, then Rhus Tox and nothing else will have to be\nadministered.  Rhus Tox symptoms  are very closely related to\nhumidity.  In the rainy season, wh en it is also hot, its symptoms\nbecome aggravated.\n\nRhus Tox is also very useful in the treatment of malarial fever .  It\nbecomes even more effective if used  alternately with Bryonia right at\nthe onset of symptoms.  Prevanta tive use of Arnica 1000 will induce\nthe natural body response against malaria.  I invite the readers to study\nArnica, Arsenic and Natrum Mur also, with reference to malaria.\n\nRhus Tox is also useful in the treatment of fevers other than\nmalaria such as fevers of remittent nature or continuous ones.  Such\nfevers make the patient physically exhausted.  The patient feels\nrestless, chills and dryness of the tongue .  He is sensitive to cold.  The\npivotal symptom, is still the persis tent restlessness and aching of the\nentire body\n\nRhus Tox is very useful in the treatment of cellulitis .  This\ninflammatory process involves the glands, the outer surface of the skin\nand the inner linings (mucous membranes).  The patient feels pain and\ntightness.  Rhus Tox should also be used in the treatment of\nendometritis i.e. the inflammation of the inner lining of the uterus.  It\nmay possibly treat the underlying condition of the uterus and surface it\nto the skin.  Sulphur 200 and Py rogenium 200 can significantly\novercome the disease.  When given alternately with Rhus Tox, they\noffer complete cure, by the grace of God.  Rhus Tox can be useful in\nthe treatment of all skin conditions associated with the formation of\nblisters filled with clear fluid, blood or even pus, provided the burning\nsensation is prominent.\nRhus Tox 598\n\nRhus Tox works extremely well in the treatment of infantile\nparalysis (Polio).  At first, the child cont racts a high fever, which is\nfollowed by the gradual onset of paralysis.  If someone has previously\nsuffered from polio in early child hood or his leg starts becoming\nweak, then Rhus Tox should be started without any delay.  Rhus Tox\nworks much better when used altern ately with Sulphur.  Sulphur is\nalso very effective in the treatment of paraly tic conditions.  Thus, a\ncombination of the two is obvious ly much more useful.  Some polio\npatients have actually been completely cured with this prescription.\nSometimes, the whole body becomes nu mb for a short while then the\nnumbness disappears automa tically.  However, if there is any sign of\nassociated weakness, Rhus Tox must  be given immediately.  It seems\nto work very well.  The gradually progressive paralysis  of chronic\nand profound nature may be treated with Causticum.  Causticum is not\na remedy for immediate effect only. In Causticum, the process of\nparalysis sets in early, soon after e xposure to the cold.  When noticed,\nthe patient feels that the paraly sis happened suddenl y.  Partial or\nlocalized paralysis of a few muscles responds better to Causticum.  In\nparticular, it has no match with re gards to its effectiveness against\nright-sided facial palsy.  Traditionally, Causticum is famous as the\nideal remedy for paralysis of the face.\n\nIn Rhus Tox, the paralysis affects mostly the right side, though its use\nis not restricted only to the diseases  of the right side.  Nevertheless,\nthere are some other remedies much stronger and more effective than\nRhus Tox for conditions affecting th e left side of the body, such as\nLachesis and Ledum, which work wonders when given along with\nArnica.  Additional use of Cadmium Sulph 30, three times a day,\nmakes the prescription even more effective.  If there is still no\nfavourable response, then Sulphur and Rhus Tox should be used\nalternately.\n\nThe Rhus Tox headache resembles very much the headache\naccompanying fevers.  If the sympto ms of the patient resemble one\nparticular remedy, then that remedy alone should be used.  If the\nsymptoms are non-specific, then Rhus Tox may often be found useful.\nGenerally speaking, in Rhus Tox th e head feels heavy.  The headache\nbegins at the forehead and then spreads backwards to the nape.\n\nRhus Tox 599\nIn Rhus Tox, blood flow to the fa ce and head increases.  The skin\nbecomes red, swollen and tender, asso ciated with intense itching.\nThick scabs form all over the area of eczema.\n\nOut of the lists of eczemas, the one  most responsive to Rhus Tox is\nthe eczema in children affecting their scalp.   However, it must be\nremembered that the body may react to Rhus Tox violently.  Once it\ngets better, then Rhus Tox may be repeated in a few days.  If the\neczema does not respond, then some other homoeopathic remedy\nshould be sought.  This is not an ea sy task.  Such a condition may in\nfact be cancer of the skin, which should be treated with Carcinocin\n1000 and Radium Bromatum 1000, once a week for one to two\nmonths.  Similarly, Graphites and Psorinum given alternately may\nprove very useful in the treatment of resistant forms of eczema.\nRhus Tox is also very useful in the treatment of eye infections  i.e.\nredness with the discharge of pus (p ink eyes) especially in the humid\nweather.  The pain gets worse on  moving the eye or by pressure.\nWarm tears flow out of the eyes.\n\nThe sores and blisters inside the mouth that look raw and red can be\ntreated with Rhus Tox, if the symptoms match completely with Rhus\nTox. The taste of the mouth is meta llic as if one is tasting torch\nbatteries.  The tongue becomes red and looks bruised.  Blisters form\nat the mouth and the chin.  The tonsils become inflamed and\nenlarged.  The throat hurts and swallowing becomes obviously\ndifficult.  Rhus Tox is very useful in the treatment of inflammation\nof the oesophagus with the above symptoms (oesophagitis).\n\nRhus Tox is also useful in the treatment of typhoid .  The fever\naffects the mouth adversely.  The gas produces rumbling sounds in the\nabdomen.  The abdomen becomes dist ended with gas.  The patient\ntries to belch the air out unsuccessfull y, nor can he pass flatus\nnaturally.  It is an extremely troublesome situation.  Rhus Tox and\nColchicum both may prove useful in easing this situation.\n\nSometimes, as a result of lifting or carrying heavy weight, the\nmuscles of the pelvis and the mu scles at the back may become\nbadly stretched or strained .  Women can develop the tendency of\nthe uterus to prolapse.  Rhus Tox happens to be the ideal and indeed\nthe best remedy for this.  However its beneficial effect is not limited to\nRhus Tox 600\nonly the uterus.  Severe muscular stra in or sprain in any part of the\nbody can be effectively treated with Rhus Tox and Millefolium.\n\nAnother symptom of R hus Tox is that the voice becomes hoarse due\nto severe soreness of the throat .  The voice improves on starting to\ntalk.  The more the person talks, the better the voice gets.  In fact, such\npersons can make long speeches although they suffer later.\n\nIn Rhus Tox, the cough is very tr oublesome and severe.  There is a\nconstant irritation inside the throat and trachea .  Rhus Tox can\noffer quick relief.\n\nRhus Tox is very effective in the treatment of a failing heart\nresulting from the overstretching and enlargement of the heart .  A\nsimilar condition in athletes responds only to Rhus Tox.  The patient\nhas the feeling of numbness and increa sing weakness of the left\nupper extremity, secondary to the weakne ss and dysfunction of the\nheart.  Rhus Tox once again is the number one remedy for this\ncondition.  Lachesis and Arnica should be given for a few days.  If\nthese are not effective, then a few doses of Rhus Tox must be given.\nAfter that, Lachesis and Arnica combined should be started again.\n\nRhus Tox is also very useful in the treatment of severe strains and\nsprains of the back  due to faltered muscles and ligaments of the\nback.  It may also be very useful in the treatment of chronic sprains\nof the ankles if other remedies have not been of avail.\n\nIn women especially, restlessness a nd constant movement of the legs\nduring sleep may be due to s uppressed eczema or itchiness.\nTreatment with Rhus Tox will offer immediate relief of the discomfort\nthough the suppressed skin disease may surface to the skin.\n\nUrticaria may be found in many kinds of fevers.  The Rhus Tox type\nof patients, tend to develop urticaria during a malarial attack.\n\nRhus Tox is also very effective in the treatment of shingles  (Herpes\nZoster). One type of Herpes is the result of sexual promiscuity.  The\nHerpes Zoster is related to the in flammation of the nerves.
