## Keynote Indications
Scroph-n., according to Dr. Cooperof London, has an esp ecial affinity for breast tissue. 
Adenoma and cancer come within its curative range. Enlarged glands.  Hodgkin’s disease. Epithelioma. 
Nodosities in the breasts (Scirr.). Breast tumors. 
Scrofulous swellings (Cist.). Threatened abscesses that show no sign o f disappearing. Lupoid ulceration. 
Tubercular testis. Eczema of the ear. Vaginal itching. Painful hemorrhoids. 
Pain in all flexor muscles. Cutting pains in the joints (Rhus -t.), but more intense and longer -lasting, worse by 
rest and i n open air, better i n warm room. Darting pain from knee to ankle joints, which feel stiff. Weakness, 
languor, wants to lie down.

## Modalities (Aggravations / Ameliorations)
Better in warm room. Worse 
lying on right side, in morning. Worse pressure, rest, after food. Worse deep breathing, breathing cold air and 
studying in cold air.

- Dizziness, fullness and pressure in vertex.

- was proved by Franz, and  later in America by W.
- H.
- Blakeley, who took from 10 to 
60 drops of the tincture several times a day.
- Blakeley’s  proving showed pain in sigmoid flexure.
- Both Franz 
and Blakely noted pains in the liver.
- The most remarkable of Franz’s Scroph-n.
- symptoms included excessive drowsiness in forenoon, in afternoon, 
and before and after eating.
- Sensation of a soft body in the gullet.
- Constriction of the chest.
- Op pression of 
chest with trembling as after much weeping.
- A sickly, giddy feeling with a sense of weakness and sinking at pit of chest, too weak to speak, along with pain 
from forehead to back of head.
- Most of these symptoms were confirmed by Blakeley.
- Gerard mentioned “hard kernels” and painful, swollen hemorrhoids as its indica tions.
- Cooper saw Scroph -n., in the form of a poultice, relieve peritonitis affecting the lower abdomen.
- Colic from 
slight vexation occurred in Franz’s proving.
- Cooper gave Scroph -n.
- to a patient who had been poisoned by an Indian arrow poison which produced 
inflammation and suppurati on of the glands.
- Scorph -n.
- relieved a most painful condition of the rectum and 
purulent discharge that had kept up for years afterwards.
- Cooper reduced strumous glands with it, cured deafness in a “bull-necked” patient, and cured a case of sycosis 
using Scroph- n.
- externally as well as giving it internally.
- ’ “Nodosities in the breast” is another indica tion of 
Cooper’s.

### Head
- On rising, indescribable pain and fullness in head, especially occiput and vertex, causing congestion 
of conjunctive with puffiness, followed by nosebleed.
- Heaviness and distress in head, as after eating too much.
- Pain at exit of rig ht facial nerve from hypo -mastoid foramen, darting to right eye.
- Headaches above the 
eyebrows while walking.
- Severe headache through temples, appearing every morning, extending to vertex and 
occiput.
- Severe, sharp pain in vertex, forehead and temples, dul l and throbbing, returning periodically, worse 
resting, worse in open air, worse leaning forward, worse by study.
- Eczema behind ear.

### Eyes
- Scrofulous keratitis.
- Sore eyeballs.
- Severe cutting pains in eyes, unable to move them, passed off with 
profuse sweat.
- Distressing photophobia (Con.).
- Black spots before eyes.
- On closing th e eyes visions of 
objects.
- Pulsating stitches in right eyebrow.
- Blepharospasm.

### Ears
- Inflammation about auricle.
- Deep ulcerated auricle.
- Eczema around ear, be hind right ear.
- Ringing in 
ears and sudden loss of hearing.
- Deafness in bull-necked boys.
- Deafness before and after menses, improving 
during the flow.

### Face
- Pleasant warmth in cheeks.
- Recurrent periostitis of lower jaw in a syphilitic.

### Mouth
- Bitter taste.
- Accumulation of sweetish water in several parts of tongue.
- Sick, sticking taste just above 
pit of throat , frequently lasting an hour with sensation as if a soft substance (a plug of mucus) were lodged 
there.
- Increased saliva, then dry mouth.
- Teeth feel loose.
- Pain in carious teeth, worse upper jaw.
- Gums bleed 
freely.
- Nose - Dry coryza.

### Throat
- Thick, tenacious, offensive mucus in throat in forenoon.
- Rancid taste in throat with great weakness 
and stiffness in hollows of knees.
- Irritation of esophagus.

### Chest
- Oppression with tremulous move ment as from much weeping.
- Constricted feeling, which causes 
uneasiness.
- Cramp like pain transversely across lower chest.
- Stitches in right chest, about 6th rib with 
shivering.
- Violent pinching stitches near right last true ribs, while walking during rest, seeming to be in liver.
- Anguish in précordia, worse after food.
- Indescribable sensation in heart, with severe audible 
palpitations.
- Pulse full, regular.
- Kidneys - Pinching and tearing as if in ureter, extending from anterior superior spine of ilium down to pubis.
- Increased secretion of urine with burning in urethra.
- Frequent, scanty emission of urine in afternoon.
- Bedwetting.
- Violent dyspnea, oppression of chest with trembling.
- On turning on either side, violent dyspnea, worse 
on right, with cutting in liver on pressure.
- Asthma in scrofulous patients.
- Pain about bifurcation of trachea.
- Pain 
in right lung, on taking a deep inspiration, which causes cough without expectoration.
- Cutting in upper left lung, 
worse breathing cold air.

### Stomach & Abdomen
- Appetite greatly increased at first, later nausea with weakness and oppression at epigastrium.
- Feeling as if he had missed his regular meal.
- Dyspepsia.
- Temperature - Chilliness for several hours on moving about in cool air, after rising in morning, passing off with 
profuse sweat, followed by stupor and absence of all symptoms.
- Body feels dry and hot with burning sensation, 
followed by profuse sweat.
- Eczema around the navel.
- Peritonitis.
- Pain in sigmoid flexure.
- Pain in right hypochondrium, worse 
 
 
deep inspiration or lying right side.
- Twisting pinching pain in umbilicus (left side).
- Dull, heavy, periodic pain 
worse when abdomen compressed, legs extended.
- Colic just below navel.
- Griping below naval, in the side in 
afternoon, 7 a.m., after a slight vexation.
- As a local remedy for appendicitis.

### Urinary & Genital
- Recurring metritis with painful hemorrhoids.
- Irritation, soreness and burning in v agina and anus.

### Extremities
- Drawing rheumatic pain in all flex ors of arms and legs.
- Tingling in limbs as from a blow on a nerve.
- Deep-seated cutting pain in all muscles of arms.
- Tingling or buzzing in arms and hands.
- Sticking and drawing 
in right palm from joints of fingers to middle of hand as far as carpal bones, muscular cramp of palms.
- Liver - Cutting, pains in liver on pressure.

### Neck & Back
- Pain in spinal column with slight opisthotonos.
- Stiff neck with pain and contraction of right sternomastoid 
muscle.

### Skin
- Irritating vesicles on inside of lip, loaded with spindle-celled epithelium.

### Sleep
- Great drowsiness in morning, with weariness and fullness in whole body.
- Sleep irresistible before 
and after a meal.
- Prolonged afternoon sleep.
