The general health of the woman can be seriously affected\nand she may suffer from some sort  of serious internal problem\nthroughout her life.  There is no known cure for such complications so\nfar.\n\nErgot has a constricting effect on the arteries and other tissues of the\nbody, resulting in seriou s life-long illnesses.   A woman overdosed\nwith Ergot suffers from continuous dark coloured vaginal bleed.  The\nbody becomes thin and wasted.  The skin becomes dark and\ncontracted.  The limbs can become paralysed.  The patient cannot\ntolerate heat.  He\/she likes to be  in the open air and cold.  As in\nArsenic, the patient feels very restless and a burning inside.  The\ndifference is that the Secale patie nt feels hot inside though the body\nfeels cold to touch.  The hands and feet may become ice cold, yet, the\npatient feels hot and under fire, putting the feet out of the bed.\nWhereas, in Arsenic, the patient fe els severe burning inside, and the\nbody may not be cold.  He feels bette r in the heat and likes to keep\nhimself covered and still feels cold, although his body may be warm\non the outside.  He feels better with hot fomentation i.e. external heat\nseems to suppress his feeling of heat inside. Concersely a Secale\npatient feels comfortable with cold applications. Even if it is very cold\noutside, he feels hot.  Sometimes , it may be very difficult to\ndistinguish Arsenic from Secale due to similarities of symptoms. They\nare also complimentary. In other words, they can compliment each\nother, if used one after the other.\n\nOn proving, it was discovered that Secale works better on patients of\nthin and lean build.  Obese people are rarely Secale patients.  This is\nwhy the remedy is described to be ideal for the patients who are thin,\nlean and rather emaciated.  Their sk in is dry, shrivelled and very\nunhealthy.  As already mentioned, every Secale patient does not have\nto be so. It can also be effective in obese people.  Additionally, Secale\npatients exhibit violet coloured spots or red spots with bluish hue.  It is\nthe bluish tinge or the cyanosis , which is important.  These spots are\nindicative of diminished blood supply to that part of the body, such as\nthe legs, calves, hands and wrists , especially over the superficial\nbones.\n\nIn Secale, there is a tendency towards the formation of chronic\nsores and ulcers , which can turn into gangrene, on further\ndeterioration.  For example, a simple cut on the finger may not heal.\nInstead, the wound becomes infected and the process of infection may\ngradually spread upwards.  It smells terrible.  The affected part can\nbecome rotten leading to the need for amputation through the joint, or\nthe infection can spread beyond the join t, turning the rest of the limb\ngangrenous as well.  In homoeopa thy, by God\u2019s grace, there is\ntreatment available for gangrene.  I myself have treated many such\npatients successfully.  By God\u2019s grace, none of them needed\namputation, whereas, the doctors had definitely made the diagnosis of\ngangrene and advised surgery for them .  The first sign of recovery is\nchange in the colour of the affected part, which starts becoming\npinkish instead of a dark colour.  Secale and Arsenic are both very\nuseful in the treatment of gangrene.  Addition of Arnica further adds\nto their beneficial effect.\n\nIn Secale, a feeling of burning se nsation everywhere, affecting the\nnose, the throat, as well as the upper respiratory passages.\n\nIn Secale, the bleeding, whether from the uterus, the nose or from any\nwound or cut, is of dark colour. This means that the bleeding is of\nvenous origin.  In the treatment of  patients rapidly advancing towards\ndeath, whose blood has become thick, dark and cyanotic, Secale must\nbe remembered and put to use.\n\nSecale in homoeopathic form is very useful in the treatment of internal\ndiseases of women such as ulceration of the uterus , causing\ncontinuous dark vaginal bleeding in terrupted with short periods of\ndark coloured and offensive sme lling discharge.  The discharge\ncontains dark blood clots that putref y.  Secale is very important and a\nvery effective treatment for this condition as well as against the risk of\nformation of gangrene inside the ut erus.  General symptoms of Secale\nbeing present, it will cure the abortive tendency of the patient also.\nWhen treated with Secale for a m onth or two, the ut erus recovers\ncompletely and becomes capable of carrying the foetus to full term.\n\nAt the time of childbirth, if the uter us is contracting to push the baby\ndown, but the mouth of the uterus (cervix) becomes tightly\ncontracted, the child cannot be born.  In this condition, Secale must\nbe used without delay, otherwis e immediate surgery would be\nrequired to save the life of the patie nt.  If left untreated with Secale\nand without immediate surgery, th e patient would die in agony.\nSecale can also cure the pain and the excessive dark coloured bleeding\nfrom the uterus after delivery.  Sometimes, the breasts shrink in size\nduring pregnancy  and an insufficient amount of milk is produced.\nSecale will restore the normal amount  of lactation, which is enough to\nfeed the baby.\n\nAnother symptom of Secale is that the urine is rather black ,\nresembling the urine of Terebinthi na.  In Terebinthina, the black\ncolour is due to the excess of pr otein in the urine, resulting from\ndamage to the kidneys.  Terebinthina is very effective in this situation.\nIn Secale, the black colour is not due to an excess of albumin in the\nurine; instead, it is due to the mixt ure of blood from the dark coloured\nvaginal bleed.\n\nIn Secale, a patient of pneumonia can develop gangrene in the lungs\n(necrotizing type of pneumonia), which must be treated with Secale.\nTimely use of Secale works profoundly and offers immediate\nbeneficial effect.  Wherever there is a tendency of sores and ulcers to\nbecome necrosed and gangrenous, be  it in the stomach, lungs or\nanywhere else on the mucous membra nes, Secale must be an essential\npart of the treatment in all these conditions.\n\nIn Secale, cramps and tightness  are common, and may be localized\nto the soles of the feet, calves or a part of the upper extremities.  If\nother symptoms of Secale are also present, then Secale will provide\nimmediate relief of the symptoms.  It is also very useful in the\ntreatment of neuralgias (the lightning type of pain along the course of\nthe nerves).  These pains are very troublesome.  These pains get better\non covering the affected part of the body.\n\nInsanity is also common in Secale.  The patient becomes delirious\nand violent.  Being out of his mind, he  exerts his utmost even if he is\nphysically weak.  It becomes really difficult to control him in this\nsituation.\n\nIn Secale, the stools are black  and smell stinky.  The patient is\nunaware of his diarrhoea.  The body becomes extremely cold and\nweak, yet he feels hot inside and does not like to be covered.\n\nSecale is also useful in the treatment of Asiatic cholera .  As in\nCamphor, the body becomes extremely cold, although the patient feels\nwarm and uncomfortable inside.  In Camphor, the body is cold but the\npatient does not feel cold inside.\n\nIn Secale, the patient may have paralysis of the legs or any one\nparticular part of the body .  The paralysis may also affect one side\nof the body with no special predilection.  It may affect the right or left\nside.  Without wasting time on the di agnosis of the paralysis, if the\ngeneral symptoms of Secale are pres ent, it should be used without\ndelay.  In Secale, whatever part of the body is affected, it feels numb\nwith a burning sensation.  The cramps and tightness always become\nworse at night.  The patient feels better in the open air.  The symptoms\nbecome worse in heat, with hot fo mentation and before the onset of\nperiods.
