In homoeopathic\nform, it is not used much. In my own experience, I have found it very\neffective and important. It is quite useful in the treatment of the\nterminal stage of tuberculosis of the lungs and very useful in the\ntreatment of phlegmatic type of patients . A daytime headache that\ngets better at night is very amenable to treatment with Stannum.\nHowever, its best use is in the treatment of chronic diseases of the\nlungs and intestinal worm infestat ion. Its use in the treatment of\nworms is not much mentioned in th e standard literatures, though it is\ndefinitely referred to in the repert ories. Stannum used over a long\nperiod, helps kill or dissolve the intestinal worms and then expel\nthem. It needs to be used for at least a few months. Stannum is also\nan antidote of lead poisoning . It is also useful in the treatment of\nblisters inside the mouth.\n\nIn the areas where utensils are plat ed with tin, Stannum should not be\nforgotten when treating the gastro -intestinal symptoms in that\npopulation. In Western c ountries, tin plating is not in vogue, so it is\nnot much used. However, food a nd beverages are preserved in cans\nlined internally with tin. So, wherever the food is consumed out of the\ncans, Stannum may very well be needed.\n\nThe metal \u201cTin\u201d melts easily and its homoeopathic form helps liquefy\nphlegm for easier expulsion. The\npatient feels easily exhausted even on talking as if the chest has lost its\nstrength. The chest becomes weak and the lungs feel lifeless, as a\nresult of which the patient cannot ev en talk. Some of these patients\nare chronic sufferers of these cond itions. They must be treated with\nStannum in high potency, to be rep eated every two weeks or so for a\nfew months. The patient will be found getting better surprisingly fast.\nStannum is very helpful in the treat ment of symptoms of tuberculosis\nof the lungs.\n\nAnother symptom of Stannum is nausea, which can occur from the\nsmell of food being cooked, as in Colchicum. The taste of the mouth\nbecomes bitter. The stomach feels empty, accompanied by cramps\n(hunger pangs). The feeling of w eakness is profound, especially in\nthe chest. The patient finds it difficult to talk. He has dry cough ,\nwhich gets worse on talking, laughing and singing. The patient\nalways feels tired and feels progressive weakness. He is very\nsensitive to the change of weather. There is a tendency to palpitate\nand the heart starts beating fast ev en on slight exertion. The arms and\nlegs quiver, feel heavy and have cramps. The thumbs get drawn\ntowards the palms which is a prominent feature of Plumbum.\n\nIn Stannum, typically, the patien t feels exhausted even while\ndescending the stairs, whereas normally in most illnesses, people feel\ndifficulty in climbing the stairs. Muscles at the forearms and the\nhands feel tight and contracted while writing and typing.\nSpasmodic twitching of the fingers is its salient feature.\n\nIn women, the periods are more frequent and more copious\n(menorrhagia).
