# Strontium Carbonicum ## Remedy Classification - **Type:** Homeopathic Remedy - **Miasm:** Tubercular Miasm - **Temperament:** Chilly - **Aggravation Time:** Morning ## Keynote Indications Strontianite was first discovered in the lead mines of Strontain in Argyllshire, from which it received its name. It occurs in massive, fibrous, stel lated, rarely ortho-rhombic, crystals. The metal stronlium is dark yellow. Strontium carbonate varies in color from white to yellow and pale green. Stront-c. was proved by Nenning, Schreter, Seidel, Trincks and Woost. It affects the circulation, causing a congestive feeling of tension. The heart, kidneys, marrow, ankles and right side are also affected. Rheumatic pains, chronic sprains and stenosis of esophagus. Pains make patient faint or sick all over. Pain and itching al ternate. Pains are fleeting, can hardly tell where they are, seemingly felt in marrow of bones. Pains increase and decrease gradu ally or make the patient faint and sick all over. Burning, gnawing. Right side most affected. For the shock after surgical operations. Chronic sequelae of hemorrhages, after operations with much oozing of blood and coldness and prostration. Arteriosclerosis. High blood pressure, with flushed face pulsating arteries, threat ened strokes. Edema, especially about the ankles as a concomitant. Numbness. Soreness. Restlessness at night, smothering feeling. Affections of bones, especially femur. Violent involuntary starts. Immobility of one side. Sense of paralytic weakness. Formication in limbs. Neuritis, worse cold. Coldness in spots, on calves. Pressure in stomach is better by eating and worse after a meal. Emaciation. COMMENTS - Congested state. Flushing in the face and violent pulsation of the arteries, congestion to heart, lungs and head. Symptoms better by warmth and wrapping up and worse by cold. All complaints are worse walking, particularly headache, leucorrhea, dyspnea and pressure in the sternum. Headaches are boring, pressive and tensive. Tension from vertex to upper jaw, as if head were expanded from within and as if scalp were too tight, worse in evening, when lying with head low, slowly increasing and decreasing, better from heat. Tension in the nape, as if the tendons were drawn up. Tensive drawing in dorsal and lumbar muscles. External soreness, numbness. Venous tension in the arms. “The veins of the arms and hands are injected and tense with great prostration and ill-humor." Phlebitis, varicose veins. Angina pectoris. Predisposition toward strokes and high blood pressure. Surgical shock after blood loss. Great exhaustion after surgery. Pressure in the stomach, better by eating and worse by walking. Pressure after eat ing. Diarrhea and constipation. Stools are accompanied and followed by burning in the rectum. Diarrhea is worse at night, urgent, with yellow stools. Emaciation. Calcification, osteoporosis. Weak and brittle bones that break easily. Bony growths and enlargements. Bone pains, especially the femur, the thighbone. Bone disorders, particularly the femur. Bone disorders in scrofulous children when associated with diarrhea. Characteristic weak ankles (Nat -c.). Chronic sprains of the ankle with edema. Sciatica associated with weak ankles. Ice cold feet. Leg and foot cramps (Calc.). C. M. Boger cured a sciatica accompanied by edema of left ankle with Stront-c. after other remedies had failed. A. P. Bowie cured a case occurring after a tedious labor. The stools were large and hard, expelled with great effort, followed by great pain in anus, burning, lasting a long time and c ompelling patient to lie down. Anus violently contracted after stool. Complained of coldness in spots on calves of legs. Stront-c. 6c entirely relieved. Temperature - Flushes of heat in face, with aversion to uncovering. Profuse perspiration at night, menopausal. Sticking in the abdominal ring. Uncomfortable fullness and swelling of abdomen. Colic in umbilical region. Loss of appetite, food tasteless. Craving for bread, beer. Aversion to meat. ## Modalities (Aggravations / Ameliorations) Aversion to darkness. Better from light, heat, an d sun. Better immersing in hot water. Better wraps, hot bath, covering, warm stove. Worse change of weather. Worse cold, uncovering, drafts. Worse evening, night and early morning. Worse 2 a.m. or 3 a.m., from being quiet. Worse when beginning to move, walking, stooping Worse sprains, bleeding.
