The patient is impulsive, hurried, and prone to extreme anticipatory anxiety. There is a fear of heights, fear of crowds, and fear of narrow spaces (claustrophobia). Argentum Nitricum is a profound remedy acting primarily upon the mucous membranes, the nervous system, and the bones. It is characterized by a state of nervous agitation, impulsivity, and a tendency toward ulceration and inflammation. The remedy is indicated in cases of profound exhaustion, paralytic weakness, and a general state of 'hurry' where the patient feels they must be constantly moving or doing something. It is a leading remedy for anticipatory anxiety and the physical manifestations thereof, such as gastrointestinal distress.
Aggravation: From heat, warm rooms, emotional excitement, mental exertion, lying on the right side, and eating sugar. Amelioration: From fresh air, cold, pressure, and eructations.

It is often worse from mental exertion, emotions, or sunshine, and better from firm pressure and wrapping the head tightly.
The eyes are prone to severe inflammation, purulent discharges, and photophobia. The conjunctiva is often injected and red. There is a sensation of a foreign body in the eye, and the patient may suffer from blurred vision or asthenopia resulting from prolonged near-work.
There is a sensation of fullness in the ears, accompanied by humming, roaring, or buzzing sounds. Hearing may be impaired, often associated with a catarrhal condition of the Eustachian tubes.

This is a primary site of action. There is intense flatulence, with loud belching and a feeling of the stomach being blown up like a balloon. The patient has a craving for sugar, which invariably causes diarrhea or gastric distress. Stools are often green, watery, and contain mucus, frequently accompanied by intense cramping.

Lycopodium is the most important complementary remedy. It often follows or acts alongside Argentum Nitricum to complete the curative process, especially in cases where the abdominal symptoms are prominent and the patient suffers from flatulence and digestive weakness.
Coffee is generally considered inimical or at least a strong antidote to the action of Argentum Nitricum. It should be avoided during the course of treatment to ensure the remedy's efficacy is not compromised.
Argentum Nitricum follows well after Lycopodium and Spigelia. It is often followed by Natrum Muriaticum, especially in cases of chronic digestive issues or nervous exhaustion where the patient has developed a more depressive or introverted state.
