Kali Bichromicum is a deep-acting polychrest, primarily acting upon the mucous membranes, the fibrous tissues, and the skin. Its most characteristic keynote is the production of tough, stringy, elastic, yellow, or greenish-yellow mucus that can be drawn out into long threads. It has a profound affinity for the respiratory tract, gastric mucosa, and bones. The remedy is indicated in conditions characterized by deep, punched-out ulcers with regular edges, and pains that shift rapidly from one part of the body to another or appear in small, localized spots.
Aggravation: From cold, cold weather, undressing, during the morning, after eating, and especially between 2:00 and 3:00 AM. Amelioration: From warmth, wrapping up, pressure, and motion.
Vertigo is marked by a sensation of swaying or heaviness, often accompanied by a feeling of fullness in the head. It is worse when rising from a sitting position or when moving quickly, and is frequently associated with gastric disturbances.
Headaches are often periodic and localized to small spots, such as above the eyebrows or in the temples. The pain is typically of a boring, neuralgic character. A key feature is the headache that disappears as the nasal discharge appears or increases.

There is a dry, hacking, or barking cough, often accompanied by the expectoration of thick, elastic, stringy mucus. The chest feels tight and constricted. It is a vital remedy for chronic bronchitis and asthma where the mucus is tenacious.

Symptoms are characterized by their shifting nature and the stringy, adhesive quality of all secretions.
Arsenicum Album and Lachesis are often complementary. Arsenicum helps in cases where the catarrhal symptoms are accompanied by extreme restlessness and prostration, while Lachesis may follow to address deeper systemic toxicity or specific throat pathology that Kali Bichromicum has initiated but not fully resolved.
Chamomilla and Pulsatilla are sometimes considered inimical in certain clinical scenarios. It is antidoted by Arsenicum Album, Lachesis, and Pulsatilla. If the remedy is pushed too far in deep ulcerations, it may require these agents to neutralize the excessive tissue destruction.
It follows well after Calcarea Carbonica or Pulsatilla in chronic catarrhal conditions. It is also often followed by Hepar Sulphur or Silicea when the inflammatory process transitions from the acute exudative phase to a suppurative or necrotic stage.
