Psoric Miasm
🧬 Remedy Miasm: Psoric Miasm The Psoric miasm is considered the mother of all chronic diseases. It primarily manifests as functional nervous weakness, allergies, skin itching, eruptions, and hypersensitivity.

Vertigo

Vertigo is associated with the visual disturbances and cardiac symptoms. Often occurs upon rising or moving the head suddenly. It is frequently accompanied by a sensation of nausea and a feeling of swimming in the head.

Head

Headaches are often hemicranial, frequently on the right side. The pain is of a pressing or shooting nature, extending from the neck to the head. The scalp feels tender, and the head pain is often associated with the suppression of rheumatic pains elsewhere.

Eyes

Neuralgic pains in the eyes, which are worse from any movement of the eyeballs. Sensation of stiffness in the muscles of the eyes. Vision may be blurred or dim, often associated with the aforementioned neuralgic headaches.

Ears

Pains shooting into the ears, particularly from the face or teeth. There is a sensation of fullness and sometimes tinnitus, which is aggravated by the same modalities that govern the rheumatic pains.

Face

One of the most important remedies for facial neuralgia, specifically prosopalgia. The pain is sudden, sharp, and shooting, often right-sided. The face may feel cold, and there is a marked tendency for the pain to leave the face and move to the heart or extremities.

Nose

Symptoms are less prominent, but there may be a sensation of dryness or fullness in the nasal passages, often coinciding with the onset of acute rheumatic or neuralgic attacks.

Mouth

Tongue may feel numb or stiff. Taste is often impaired, and there may be a sensation of dryness in the mouth despite normal saliva production. Teeth may ache in sympathy with the facial neuralgia.

Throat

Sensation of constriction or a lump in the throat. Swallowing may be painful, with shooting pains extending toward the ears. Often associated with rheumatic sore throat or tonsillitis.

Chest

A primary remedy for heart conditions. Palpitations are violent, often with a feeling of anxiety and shortness of breath. The heart feels as if it is being squeezed or as if it were too large. Pains often shoot from the chest to the shoulders or down the arms.

Stomach & Abdomen

Appetite is often impaired. There is a sensation of nausea and fullness in the stomach. The abdomen may feel distended, with occasional shooting pains that mimic the general rheumatic character of the remedy.

Urinary & Genital

Frequent urination, often with a burning sensation. In females, there may be pains in the uterus that alternate with rheumatic pains in the joints. The urine may be high-colored and scanty.

Extremities

The quintessential remedy for rheumatism that shifts from larger to smaller joints, or from upper to lower limbs. Pains are shooting, lightning-like, and cause numbness. Joints are swollen, hot, and sensitive to the slightest touch or movement.

Neck & Back

Stiffness and pain in the cervical region, often extending down the spine. The back feels weak, and there is a sensation of tension in the muscles of the back, aggravated by any attempt to move or bend.

Skin

Skin may feel dry and hot. There is a tendency toward itching, particularly in the extremities, often preceding or accompanying the rheumatic flare-ups.

Sleep

Sleep is restless and disturbed by the intensity of the shooting pains. The patient may wake up frequently, especially during the first part of the night, feeling unrefreshed and anxious.

Generalities

The patient is generally sensitive to cold air and motion. The constitution is marked by a tendency toward shifting neuralgias and cardiac rhythm disturbances. The rapid shifting of location of the pain is the hallmark of the remedy.

🤝 Complementary Remedies:

Benzoinum acidum is often complementary in cases of rheumatic gout and urinary disturbances. Digitalis may be required to complete the action in cardiac insufficiency cases where Kalmia has addressed the initial inflammatory or neuralgic component.

⚠️ Inimical / Antidotes:

Belladonna is considered somewhat inimical in its clinical application, as the two remedies may cause confusion in neuralgic states; careful observation is required if one is to follow the other.

🔄 Follows Well:

Spigelia follows well in cardiac conditions where the inflammatory stage has subsided but palpitations remain. Bryonia follows well in acute rheumatic states where the tissue swelling is marked and motion is intolerable.

📊 Side-by-Side Comparison:

Spigelia, Bryonia, Benzoinum acidum, Ledum.
