Wells' Criteria for Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

Evaluates the pre-test clinical probability of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the lower extremities using the validated Wells score model.

Active Cancer (treatment within 6 months or palliative)?

Paralysis, paresis, or recent leg plaster immobilization?

Recently bedridden > 3 days or major surgery within 12 weeks?

Localized tenderness along the deep venous system distribution?

Entire leg swollen?

Calf swelling > 3 cm compared to asymptomatic side (at 10cm)?

Pitting edema confined to the symptomatic leg?

Collateral superficial veins (non-varicose)?

Previously documented DVT?

Alternative diagnosis is at least as likely as DVT?
