Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) is a systemic autoimmune condition characterized by the presence of persistently elevated antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL), which predispose individuals to venous or arterial thrombosis and pregnancy-related morbidity.
APS can be primary (occurring in isolation) or secondary (associated with other autoimmune conditions, most notably Systemic Lupus Erythematosus).
