Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) is a common circulatory condition in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the limbs, most commonly the legs. Smooth muscle cells migrate from the media to the intima, proliferating and secreting extracellular matrix. Together, these form an atherosclerotic plaque. As the plaque grows, it narrows the arterial lumen, reducing blood flow.
