The Sycotic miasm is characterized by overgrowth and retention. It manifests as warts, tumors, fibroids, joint pain, excessive discharges, and suspicious or secretive mental states.
Dippel obtained it in the first instance by a distillation of stags' horns, the deciduous horns of the stag partaking more of the nature of bone than the permanent horns of cattle.
This lead to the name Oleum cornu cervi, with which the Ol-an is at present prepared is considered identical.

Clarke gave great relief in a case of cancer of right breast in which the patient complained of pains darting forward out of the nipple.
